OUR IMPACT
Gracious journey through higher education - Ecoru Dorcus
I joined Peer Teens (what is today PAD) in 2015 through my friend Maliko Pamela, inspired by the zeal of the youth and teenagers to extend the kingdom of God through their words and actions. I loved all the activities of Peer Teens, especially the outreaches to prisons and home visits to the needy, and had felt love from the Peer Teens family. In Peer Teens, one finds peace and solace from the Word of God through Bible studies.
I was in senior four by then and continued up to senior six, which I finished in 2018. I had no hopes of joining a university institution due to the school fees challenge. In 2019, I got a scholarship through Peer Teens to the university. I had mixed feelings, many emotions going on within me at that age, but one thing I know is that it was indeed the hand of God. His Grace had located me and I knew that I would surely study and get a qualification.
I studied Bachelor of Arts in Education, majoring in English Language and Literature at Uganda Christian University. The course of three years went on for four years due to COVID-19. I finished the last school practice in April 2023 and graduated in October 2023. After graduation I am now teaching in a secondary school called Moyo Star High where I teach English Language and Literature to date.
I bless the name of the Lord for giving me the opportunity to become a professional teacher through the scholarship and for Peer Teens for being a platform through which I received my blessings of higher education. My heartfelt gratitude to my sponsors for allowing God to use them to touch lives and give hope and privilege of studies to me and many others who have been blessed through them.
